Bradfordians Enjoy Free Lunch

Friday was a perfect spring day and 45 Bradfordians - the wonderful people who make up the Bradford Mill community - gathered for a barbecue outside 53 Bradford Street.  The food was provided by Slowpokes Barbecue (our neighbor from Beharrel Street) and Owater graciously donated the water. It was great to see those who have been around for a decade or more (including Ismail and Eva-Gitta from SSC Medical who has occupied space in building 23 for nearly 20 years) converse with recent arrivals. I took the opportunity to share some information on the plan for improvements that will start this summer.  My current thinking - subject to change as construction bids start coming in and we find out what the town will permit us to do - is that we will undertake the following projects this summer: Improve parking areas adjacent to #23 and between #23/#33 and #33/#43 Replace Bradford Street entryways on #33 and #43 Repair siding, windows, and entryways on #23 Install bike racks in front of #23, #33, and #43 Install tenant directories and exterior signage Replace residential mailboxes with a commercial system

New Tenant Drops Anchor at the Mill

The Organization for the Assabet River (OAR) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to protect, preserve, and enhance the natural and recreational features of the Assabet River, its tributaries, and the watershed. Established in 1986 by a group of concerned citizens, OAR currently has approximately 920 members, a 14-member Board of Directors, and 5 part-time staff. Somewhat ironically, they were literally flooded out of their old offices on the banks of the Assabet and have settled on higher ground at 23 Bradford Street.  Recognizing that ugly is only skin deep (or something like that), Executive Director Alison Field-Juma and her team saw through the timeworn siding to the central location and community feel of the Bradford Mill. We are pleased to have them aboard!
